Copycats?
Talking fashion with my buddy Lackner is always interesting, and we were discussing this issue today: Knowing the normal ‘trickle-down’ flow of fashion, you would think that one would accept this with ease… but NO! Why is it that certain companies, like Urban Outfitters, cannot seem to come up with their own ideas? Yes, it is true that fashion is always evolving, but going as far as using another designer’s very clear concept and make it your own? That’s just not right in my book.
Let’s take Silence & Noise, one of the brands that UO houses, and their latest additions to the store. Any Rad Hourani/Rick Owens influences here? I think so. I do not wish to become a fashion hater, I know how things work and that not everyone can afford runway pieces, but this is too clear for me: the ideas of one fashion house do not belong to every other one. I say no to copycats.

It’s ok to emulate the concept or main idea. But no one should make a replica of another’s design.
fashion goes in cycles so everything is taken from or inspired by some one before them.
plus, U.O. makes it more affordable to us fashionistas. like Coco Chanel once said… “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
one thing is imitation, another one is a straight up rip off. i know its more affordable, but come on, urban outfitters has been known for this for years.
Yes, it’s called a smart business plan. Take the high-end inspiration and re-make it for the masses. UO is marketing another type of buyer, which should not interfere with the other brands revenue.
