Alexander McQueen SS2069 – Plato’s Atlantis

Alexander McQueen SS2069 – Plato’s Atlantis

I had to. I could not resist keeping this video from reaching our readers. This combination of set design and production, the introduction video, and the ambience created by the music just blew my mind. And then came the clothes and shoes. Straight out of some reptile living in some distant planet in the year 2069, the prints are otherworldly. From a designer’s point of view, it does not get any better than this. McQueen has finally joined other designers and ventured in computer generated graphics and prints, and the result was mind-blowing.

The video was set to stream live on SHOWstudio.com, Nick Knight’s studio site. In this short film, you can see Raquel Zimmermann, naked, snakes, sand… great images in tune with the collection. Visual and sound go hand in hand.

Can we talk about the shoes? I don’t know whether to call them shoes, or sculptures, or aliens, or whatever it is that this man thought of (or was on) when coming up with those. Who can we see walking the streets of Paris with these on?

Hope it tickled your brain as much as it tickled mine.

  1. Holy shits. MCQUEEN has always been one of my favorites, but he brings it to a whole new level this season. I want to DO that first look and my shorts are officially creamed.

  2. Just watched the video and oh my god am I ready to fly to the fucking moon. GOD is he my favorite designer?… “yes, whitney, he is.”

  3. totally! i think i cried McQueen tears. He is beyond amazing and has created a whole world in which he and his creations live in. Its as easy as that. I cant imagine the guy walking down the street. We need to sit down and discuss fashion with him.
    Imagine?
